Book Signing at Towne Center Books by Author Jennifer Amiel

On August 9, Jennifer Amiel will be signing copies of her new adventure novel, Chloe Diggins and The Eternal Emperor, which comes out August 1 at Towne Center Books.

Pleasanton author, Jennifer Amiel releases adventure novel, Chloe Diggins and The Eternal Emperor, on August 1, 2012. Written for nine- to twelve-year-old readers, the middle grade book follows Chloe Diggins, twelve-year-old daughter of an archaeologist, as she discovers an ancient artifact, races to find a lost Inca treasure, and struggles to save her family.

The novel blends a fictional mystery with historical facts and sites. Set in Peru, the first novel merges discoveries at an archaeological excavation site with a fast paced adventure story to places in and around the ancient capital of the Inca empire. Amiel plans to take Chloe Diggins on archaeology adventures throughout the world.

About the book’s heroine, Amiel states, “The character of Chloe Diggins was born from my desire to create a female character who is strong-minded, smart, a little daring, and not afraid to get some dirt under her nails.”

Amiel also draws inspiration for the book from her studies and work experience. She has an undergraduate degree in anthropology with an emphasis in archaeology from the University of California at Santa Barbara and a Master of Arts in museum studies from John F. Kennedy University. She has fieldwork experience in archaeological excavations on the Santa Barbara coast, on the California Channel Islands, and in the Middle East.

“There’s something magical about working on a dig site. It is incredibly tedious work, but the moments of discovery are simply unmatched,” Amiel states.

A Pleasanton resident for ten years, Amiel is currently Director of Education at in Downtown Pleasanton. She has work experience in art, science, and history museums.

A book signing will be held at in Downtown Pleasanton on Thursday, August 9th at 7pm in the evening.
