Because of some recent changes at Patch, today’s column will be my last. It’s been an adventure and a privilege to share my thoughts and ideas with you, and to get your always welcome feedback on my musings.
I started writing for Patch during a time of rapid and significant transition in my life. Over less than a year, I turned 49, opened a new exercise studio, and, with my family, I put down my 13 year old female dog . I also separated from my wife, and , who introduced me to the Patch while she was a periodic contributor.
My editors and co-contributors — especially — have been so supportive and helpful. And you, the readers have been encouraging, kind and enthusiastic, continuing and expanding on dialogues I’d hoped to start each week.

Every Monday night prior to my Tuesday p.m. deadline, and sometimes over the weekend, I’d think about what I might have to say that would be of value to you in the tricky art of applying basic exercise and nutrition science in your life.
I know for both myself and my clients, the practical application is the critical bridge between good ideas and actually getting any value out of them. And applying these principles is such a personal thing.

Getting in your workouts, knowing what to do when you’re there and eating healthfully in a way that suits your lifestyle are all challenges that need to be met on each person’s own terms.
I tried to share what I’ve learned about better ways to meet those challenges in a way you could relate to and use each day.
Hopefully, together, we’ve done some good for each other. I know you, and Patch, have certainly done so for me.
For those of you who still want to keep tabs on my thoughts, suggestions and tips, you’ll find a renewed frequency of postings on my blog at http://trivalleywellness.com/. You might also want to come and say hi personally at my studio on Stanley near California Street.
Finally, a big thanks to all the people in my personal life who supported and encouraged me to do this when it was both the toughest, and most interesting time in my life and career; especially my “peeps” (you know who you are).
Be well.
