Pleasanton parents were among the thousands who participated in this year's parent teacher association convention in the state's capital.
Pleasantonians were among those who rallied April 29 in Sacramento. The event, with the theme "9 Million Reasons to Speak Up"kicked off the 111th annual convention of the California State Parent Teacher Association.
According to a statement, the theme focuses on the "need to invest in the more than nine million children and youth" in the state of California as opposed to reducing funding in education.
Jodie Vashistha, vice president of membership for the Pleasanton Parent Teacher Association Council, said at least 600 people gathered on Thursday.
