UPDATE: Victim in Oikos University Shooting is Grace Kim, a Foothill Alum

Grace Eunhae Kim, a Foothill graduate who most recently lived in Fremont and worked in Newark, is one of the victims, police confirm.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Department has released six of the seven people killed in a in Oakland Monday, and one victim is confirmed as graduate Grace Kim.

Close friends have told Patch that Grace Eunhae Kim, who most recently lived in Union City and worked in Newark, was one of the victims. Oakland police were not available for comment at the time of this report.

According to school records, Kim graduated with the class of 2007.

Kim worked at in Newark, but a manager at the restaurant on Mowry Avenue had no comment Monday night.

After an extensive manhunt,  several hours after the shooting that occurred at Oikos University, a private Christian school at 7850 Edgewater Drive in Oakland.

Goh, believed to be an Oakland resident and a Korean national, is accused of shooting 10 adults at the university, killing seven, Oakland Police Chief Howard Jordan said at a news conference at police headquarters Monday.  

Condolences for Kim — whose Facebook profile indicates she is 23 — have spread throughout the web.

“I love you lil Eun Hae. May the wings of ALL the angels drape over you,” wrote a friend on Kim’s Facebook wall.

On Twitter, others wrote:

Just got a call. Rest in peace @KlMEUNHAE. You’re with the angels now.”

Unreal. RIP Grace @KlMEUNHAE. Thoughts and prayers to the fam and friends of all the victims of such senseless killing

I was always so inspired by your dedication and spunk. I will miss you Grace face! And I love you @KlMEUNHAE

Friends have said that Fremont resident Lydia Sim was also a victim from the fatal shooting.

“Lydia Sim #restinpeace #Oikos,” wrote one person on Twitter.

Another Twitter user wrote, “RIP Lydia Sim.... I love you big sister... Say hi to God for me…”

Also slain was 33-year-old El Cerrito resident Sonam Chodon, according to the Tibetan Association of Northern California.

All told, six of the people killed were women; one was a San Francisco man, shot to death when the suspect stole his car outside of the school, according to news reports. Six were students, and one was a secretary.

Police said they first responded to the shooting around 10:33 a.m.

Five victims were pronounced dead at the scene while another two people died at a hospital, according to police.        

Three people who were injured in the shooting were taken to a hospital and are expected to survive, Jordan said.                

Police believe Goh used a handgun, and a weapon was recovered at the scene, he said. According to news reports, the weapon was purchased in Castro Valley.

Roughly 35 people were in or near the building when the shooting occurred, and officers rescued 13 people from the facility, Jordan said.
