Video: Congressional Candidate Eric Swalwell Interviewed on MSNBC

Democrat Eric Swalwell talked with MSNBC political reporter Chuck Todd on Monday morning. The interview starts at about the 3:20 mark of the video.

In an interview with MSNBC's Chuck Todd Monday morning, Eric Swalwell talked about why he believes voters shouldn't value Rep. Pete Stark's experience and how he will keep up with his opponent on the fundraising front. On the morning show "The Daily Rundown," Swalwell told Todd there isn't anything wrong with experience but that Stark has become "disconnected" and "ineffective" as a congressman. A rhetorical line Swalwell has used a number of times in the campaign. Todd asked Swalwell if he'll be able to keep up with Stark financially if the race stretches until November. The Dublin City Councilmember responded that he has raised the same amount of money as Stark since he entered the race in September and his campaign has raised over $280,…

Poll: Are You in Favor of Same-Sex Marriage?

President Obama told ABC News that his thinking has "evolved" on the subject of same-sex marriage. How do you feel about his decision?

President Obama told ABC's "Good Morning America" earlier this week that he now supports same-sex marriage. The president—who still supports states deciding the issue on their own—said his personal views had gone through an "evolution" based on conversations with family and friends and the views of his own daughters. "They are much more comfortable with it," the president told Robin Roberts in an interview on “Good Morning America” Thursday. ”You know, Malia and Sasha, they have friends whose parents are same-sex couples," Obama said in the interview. "There have been times where Michelle and I have been sitting around the dinner table and we’re talking about their friends and their parents and Malia and Sasha, it wouldn’t dawn on them …

I can only speak for myself but I believe you're the one that's delusional. Your right-wing anti-tax agenda is routinely rejected by the majority of local voters (your neighbors) who elect Democrats to every conceivable office. As anyone who can count to ten can see your rhetoric & scathing attacks on liberals, unions & taxes has been repudiated by the electorate time & time again. Calling those …   more ›

City to Decide on Walmart Grocery Tonight

Councilman Matt Sullivan appealed a Planning Commission decision to allow the grocer; council will hear his arguments tonight at 7 p.m. at the Firehouse Arts Center.

The City Council will vote tonight once and for all on whether Walmart can open up a controversial grocery store inside the long-empty Nob Hill supermarket spot on Santa Rita Road. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Firehouse Arts Center on Railroad Avenue. The last meeting drew 150 people — more than the City Council chamber on Old Bernal Road can accommodate, and the same is expected tonight. The Pleasanton Planning Commission in March voted to allow Walmart to open up one of its Neighborhood Markets. That decision wasn't an endorsement of the project — it was simply in support of the city's zoning administrator, who ruled that the market would be consistent with rules in place since 1982 that allowed Nob Hill to operate there as a …

That Sullivan character got the vote delayed AGAIN on done technicality so the vote should now happen 5/15. I said SHOULD because we all know that nothing seems to be happening as it SHOULD with this issue no matter which side you're on. I hope Sullivan gets bad diarrhea or something to keep him from the being at the next meeting. Let's just be done with this one way or another.   more ›

Rep. Pete Stark's Mistakes the Main Talking Point in Congressional Race

Stark made false accusations and statements throughout the week.

The most talked about issue in the 15th Congressional District campaign hasn't been national security, health care or the economy. Instead, the focus has turned to what's the latest, strange statement from Rep. Pete Stark. It began last month, when Stark, who has been in Congress since 1972, accused his opponent and fellow Democrat Eric Swalwell of taking bribes while on the Dublin City Council. A week later, Stark apologized and said he misspoke. Earlier this week, Stark met with editors and reporters at the San Francisco Chronicle. Stark claimed a Chronicle writer, Debra J. Saunders, had contributed to Swalwell's campaign. When asked to provide evidence of the accusation, Stark wasn't able to and apologized. In the same meeting at the …

Congressman Pete Stark is the choice of the people & the choice of the Democratic Party, that's good enough for me,case closed. No rank & file Democrat would defy the party leadership & vote for this aspiring interloper ! There are plenty of better qualified & more deserving potential candidates to succeed Pete when he's ready to relinquish his office & Eric Swalwell has a lot of audacity if he …   more ›

Supervisor Nate Miley and Challenger Tojo Thomas Debate for District 4 Seat

The Eden Area League of Women Voters hosted a candidate forum on Monday for the county's District 4 supervisor seat.

In an hour-long candidate forum for the county's District 4 supervisor seat, incumbent Nate Miley and his challenger Tojo Thomas debated on several topics ranging from the county budget to criminal justice realignment to redevelopment and incorporation. Put on by the Eden Area League of Women Voters, moderator Earl Hamlin gave each candidate five minutes to make opening statements and talk about their agendas for the district, which includes Castro Valley, Ashland, Cherryland, Fairview, El Portal Ridge, Pleasanton, East Oakland, and Montclair. Thomas, a Fairview resident and 11-year deputy probation officer for the county, said he decided to run this year because of his concern for stronger public safety among the district. Thomas' agenda …

Video: Congressman Stark Makes an Accusation, But Can't Back it Up — Again

Minutes after claiming a Chronicle writer was contributing to Eric Swalwell's campaign, Rep. Pete Stark retracted the accusation.

Congressman Pete Stark visited with San Francisco Chronicle reporters and editors on Tuesday and claimed one writer, Debra J. Saunders, was contributing to his opponent's (Eric Swalwell) campaign. When people in the room demanded he prove this, Stark looked at the papers in front of him and after an awkward few moments, retracted the accusation. The Chronicle posted the video (above) of the incident on their Politics blog Tuesday. This comes on the heels of Stark making another retraction, after accusing Swalwell of taking bribes while on the Dublin City Council from a prominent real-estate family in exchange for votes on zoning issues. Stark couldn't prove the charge and apologized for the bribery accusation. Stark, Swalwell (both …

"Pete" Stark is a shame to our congressional system. He is a hypocrate, defames people with no proof and has never voted for bills that benefit our country. Early in his career he was an advocate for school bussing. He was an advocate of forcing kids to be bussed while his own children were being chauffeured to a private. Stark is one of the most anti-American congressman in the house. Castro? …   more ›
