Service, Vigil Set for Michel David

Friends and family are invited to celebrate the life of Amador High graduate, Michel Rose David, 22, at a memorial and funeral mass on Dec. 18 at  at 4001 Stoneridge Drive in Pleasanton.

The visitation begins at 12:30 p.m., with the memorial and mass following. A reception will be held after the funeral at  Hall at 3999 Bernal Avenue in Pleasanton. Burial will be private.

On Dec. 16, a vigil in her remembrance will take place in front of .

Michel will be remembered by family and friends remember her as a vibrant, beautiful, and intelligent young woman who brought joy to everyone who knew her.

Michel was born in Oakland, California, and graduated from Pleasanton's  in 2006. She was a student at San Diego State University, and was to graduate this week with a BA in Journalism/Media Studies and a minor in International Relations.

She was active in the university community as a "Lady Rho" in the Alpha Psi Rho mentorship program. Michel embraced adventure, traveling in the summer of 2010 to Costa Rica, where she volunteered at a sea turtle refuge and was in a Spanish immersion program.

She was looking forward to a trip to Ecuador with her mother in January 2011 to celebrate her graduation. She loved and was loved by family, friends, and her dog Martini ("Bopper").

She is survived by her mother and father, Lorie and Mando Alemania of Pleasanton, and her sisters Valeri Alemania of Pleasanton and Rachel David of New York City. She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn David. She is also survived by her grandmother, great-grandparents and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

On Dec. 10, Michel died in a San Diego shooting investigators say involved former Amador student Daniel Shoemake, 21. Police have called the incident an .
