PG&E’s New Economic Vitality Grant Program: Supporting Job Creation

As part of PG&E's nearly $2.5 million charitable commitment to local economic development initiatives in 2013, PG&E is piloting a new Economic Vitality Grant Program beginning today: • This new shareholder-funded grant program will support local job creation, workforce training, business development and other innovative programs that support job creation. • It’s geared toward local government organizations, educational institutions and 501(c)(3) nonprofits throughout our service area. • Examples might include community-based organizations with projects that provide vocational training for veterans re-entering the workforce, or programs that help small businesses expand to a point where further job creation is possible. • The online application period is June 4 through July 31. Up to $200,000 will be awarded this fall through this new grant program and will be based upon: • The extent to which a proposed project has direct links to job creation; • The extent to which the applicant organization can demonstrate job creation and other impacts; • And community need. If you know of an organization in your community with a program designed to spur innovation and job creation, please encourage them to apply at www.pge.com/evgrants. This new grant program is just one more way we are supporting economic and community vitality, and in the process, becoming a company that customers trust, like and want to do business with.
