Phantom 8U takes home championship in Manteca!

The Phantom girls had a successful outing at the Last Chance Tournament in Manteca this past weekend. In four games, the girls finished with three convincing wins and a tie to clinch the championship.
In game one, Phantom got the bats started early and had 10 runs off of 10 hits for the game. Andrea Gregory and Sophie Youngberg combined for 6 hits and 6 runs on the game. Our pitchers and defense did a fabulous job shutting out Belmont Xplosion. Final score was 10-0.
In game two, Phantom faced the San Mateo Bombers. After scoring early with two runs, Rachel Tanis kept the Bombers guessing as she struck out the side in the firs inning. Despite a last inning effort to rally, the Phantom held the Bombers with great pitching and defense and finishing with a 5-3 win. Natalie O'Sullivan and Tanis combined for an impressive 9 strikeouts on the game.
In game three, Phantom faced the Belmont Xplosion again and continued with their hot bats. Scoring 5 runs in the first inning, they finished with a strong 10-1 win. Izzie McElroy had 2 hits and 2 runs while the team had a weekend high 13 hits.
In the last game of the day, Phantom faced the San Mateo Bombers once again. The Bombers started off with strong defense, retiring the first seven batters. Phantom found themselves behind 5-0 in the last inning and rallied back with the top of the order setting the table. Natalie O'Sullivan and Andrea McElroy reached base to start things off. With two outs, Sammy Madsen loaded the bases with an infield hit. Izzie McElroy came up and knocked in 3 runs off a single and an error. Kate Sanders kept the rally going with a triple, bringing in McElroy and scoring on an error. Pleasanton Phantom fought back and finished the game with a 5-5 tie, clinching the championship.
As a team, Phantom girls batted an impressive .573 and outscored opponents 30-9 in four games.
