Celebrate National Grandparents Day

The first Sunday after Labor Day has been dedicated to grandma and grandpa since 1978. Share your pictures with us.

What happens at Grandma's house, stays at Grandma's house. It only works when the kids remember to wipe the chocolate off their chins before they get picked up, though.

Kidding aside, I consider my grandparents to be one of the greatest gifts I've ever been given. And this Sunday is dedicated to them.

President Jimmy Carter declared Grandparents Day a national holiday in 1978. It is always celebrated the first Sunday after Labor Day.

And since we know gifts from the heart are coveted above all else, it's also a great time to get crafty with the kids to make something Grandma and Grandpa will treasure. Need a bit of inspiration? Grandparents.com has a variety of craft ideas as well as songs and activities for Grandparents Day.

What makes the grandparents in your life special? Tell us about them in the comments section below to share their story. You also can upload a photo of your grandparents to our photo gallery!

Many thanks to Police/Animal Services. Next order of business is to educate residents not to allowRead More ducks to nest on their property that is not adjacent to natural waterways or canals - it may seem cute, but it's cruel when the mama duck loses babies to cats and storm drains.
