Day Five: Still No Water in Pleasanton Apartment Complex

Residents at the Springhouse Apartments have been without running water for five days. Apartment managers say they hope to have water flowing in a matter of hours.

Frustrated residents at the Springhouse Apartments are hopeful they will have running water in their homes by the end of the day today. The residents have been without water since last Friday when a 4-inch water pipe broke at 5505 Springhouse Drive.

Resident Michael Todd told Patch, "We received a notice advising the water should be back on tonight by 8 p.m. They were pouring concrete at 11 p.m. last night; I hope that was a good thing."

Despite rumors that the management company has offered money or compensation for the costs of hotels incurred by the residents, Todd says he has never been notified of any such offers.

"I saw a reporter on the news last night say that the management has offered rental credit or to pick up the cost of a hotel," Todd said. "I’m very concerned that the management will not honor what was reported, as they have NOT advised the residents of those options."

Springhouse Apartments spokesperson Philip Maef told Patch that they have had plumbers working around the clock on the repair.

"They [plumbers] are about to test the lines soon and we have notified the residents that we hope to have water by 5 p.m.," Maef said. "We are working hard to get water back to these residents."

According to Maef, the apartment management company had plumbers working on the repair an hour after the line broke. Maef says those contractors were not able to make the repairs and believes the current contractor is capable of completing the repair and get the water flowing.

Maef says there are currently 18 portable toilets with handwashing stations on the property of 353 units. Maef added that bottled water had been available and offered to residents since June 18.
