Five Things For Tuesday: First School Board Meeting and Climate Action Plan Workshop

It's Jan. 11, and there's a lot of exciting things happening around Pleasanton this week. Here are some upcoming events you won't want to miss.

1.  Community members are encouraged to attend the Pleasanton Unified School Board Meeting, at 7 p.m. Tues., Jan. 11, in the District Office Board Room, 4665 Bernal Ave., Pleasanton.  This meeting will be televised, recorded and webcast.  The next regular School Board Meeting is scheduled for Jan. 25.

2.  Beginning Acting (ages 9-12), an introduction to basic acting skills taught by the Civic Arts Stage Co. Staff, is offered through the Pleasanton Parks and Community Services, 4-6 p.m. Tues. and Thurs., Jan. 11-Feb. 3.  Classes will be held at the Firehouse Arts Center, 4444 Railroad Ave., Pleasanton.  $150 (residents) class fee.  Call 925-931-5340 or visit www.ci.pleasanton.ca.us/services/recreation  to register for Course #49756.

3.  Plan to celebrate the New Year at the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce Networking Mixer, 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wed., Jan. 12, at Super Franks, 5341 Owens Court, Pleasanton.  Members free, Non-members $25.  For more information, contact Dawn Wilson  at 925-846-5858 ext. 202 or email dawn@pleasanton.org

4.  Join Museum on Main’s (M.O.M.'s) Reading Time and introduce preschool-aged children to books and activities about people, cultures and events 10-11 a.m. Wed., Jan. 12, at Museum on Main St., 603 Main St., Pleasanton.  No reservation required.  Call 925-462-2766 or visit www.museumonmain.org for more information.

5. Attend the City of Pleasanton Climate Action Plan Workshop #2, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tues., Jan. 11.  The City of Pleasanton is committed to reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by creating a Climate Action Plan (CAP), a strategy to help reach the city’s reduction targets. The seminar will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial Building, 301 Main St., Pleasanton.  Visit http://www.pleasantongreenscene.org/ for more information on this project.
