Israel Inside - A Documentary

Congregation Beth Emek welcomes to our community Gideon Lustig, the Deputy Consul General of Israel to the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Lustig came to the Bay Area two years ago, having previously worked in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, helping to bolster Israel's economic relations with other nations. In his present position as Deputy Consul General, Mr. Lustig spends considerable time connecting with the local Jewish community, learning about the area's Jewish diversity and talking about Israel.
Mr. Lustig's visit coincides, appropriately, with the screening of "Israel Inside," a documentary that explores how the small country of Israel makes a big difference in the world. The film features Israeli-born Tal Ben-Shahar, who gave up the unique distinction of being Harvard University's most popular lecturer to return to his native country to explore the core character strengths that enable Israelis to succeed against incredible odds. Through Tal's eyes, we explore the deep-seated values - such as family, education and responsibility for the world - that contribute to Israel's accomplishments in the economic, technological and humanitarian spheres. This 55-minute documentary is an empowering and moving film you won't want to miss!
Mr. Lustig's visit and the presentation of "Israel Inside" are made in partnership with the Jewish Federation of the East Bay.
