“The New Voice of Portuguese World Music”
Ramana Vieira taps into her musical heritage, bringing the sensual music of Portugal to the Firehouse Arts Center. The ‘hauntingly beautiful” music of Fado was introduced to Vieira through her mother’s “treasured record collection.” Vieira blends the sound of traditional Fado with more contemporary genres such as bossa nova, jazz and Latin music. Tonight’s concert features songs from her first 3 albums, backed by Laura Boytz on cello, Jeffrey Luiz on classical guitar, Stephen La Porta on percussion and Alberto Ramirez on electric bass.
