United States Marines to Invade Concert in the Park

The U. S. Marines Brass Party Band will be stopping by the concerts in the park before joining the 147th Scottish Highland Gathering & Games on Saturday and Sunday.

The United States Marines will invade the weekly Friday evening Concert in the Park on August 31 with a rousing presentation of musical fare from their Brass Party Band. The concert is presented by the and held at on the corner of First and Neal Streets.

The 11-member brass band is part of the full marching band that will take part in the 147th Scottish Highland Gathering & Games at the fairgrounds September 1 and 2.  The musical interlude of talented musicians replaces the March Under the Arch that had been presented prior to the Scottish Games in past years.

The Marines will play from 6:30 to 6:55 p.m. as a prelude to the regular 'Concert in the Park".  Led by Gunnery Sergeant Jonathan Bley, the band will be attired in Marine Dress Blue uniforms.  Upon the completion of their stint in downtown Pleasanton they will return to the Marriott San Ramon where they will take part in a  concert along with the L.A. Scots Grade I Pipe Band and New Zealand's top solo performer Steve McDonald.
