Young Artist Recital Auditions Set

Recital to Open Liszt Festival at Firehouse Arts Center.

The Music Teachers Association of California will hold auditions on November 7 and 8, for the Young Artist Recital, which will open the Firehouse Arts Center’s Liszt Festival on November 20. 

The is located at 4444 Railroad Avenue in downtown Pleasanton.

Auditions are open to piano students up to age 21 whose teachers belong to the Alameda County East Branch of MTAC or who themselves live in Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore, Sunol, San Ramon, Danville or Tracy.

Participating students are required to present a memorized and well-polished Liszt piece.

They must be completed and mailed with a non-refundable check for $20.00 made payable to MTAC Alameda County East to Dominique Piana, P.O. Box 11345, Pleasanton CA 94588. 

All applications must be postmarked by October 26.

The auditions will be held at the Firehouse Arts Center in Pleasanton on November 7 and 8, 2011, beginning at 4 p.m. 

Applicants will be notified of their audition times by November 2. All pianists auditioning will receive a jury sheet with comments on their performances. A panel of three judges will make the final selection.

Each winner will perform one piece at the Young Artist Recital on November 20 at 2 p.m. and will receive a free ticket to the entire Liszt Festival and two complimentary tickets to the 2 p.m. recital.
