Happy Birthday, 7-Eleven! Free 7.11-oz. Slurpees On 7-11 From 11 to 7

Store celebrates its 85th year on Wednesday; Six Flags Offers $7.11 admission.

The 7-Eleven chain, which opened its first store in 1927, is celebrating on Wednesday its 85th anniversary.

That means: "7-Eleven Day" is almost here, with free Slurpees for everyone.

As an annual tradition, 7-Eleven patrons receive free 7.11-ounce Slurpees between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. July 11.

The celebration also marks the 45th anniversary of the creation of the Slurpee, itself.

“This year we expect to give away 7 million Slurpee drinks, more than ever before, beating last year’s offer by 2 million," said Joe DePinto, 7-Eleven president and CEO, on the company's Web site.

For folks who want to "dress" for the occasion, the company has also created downloadable birthday attire – tiny bowties, hair bows and two sizes of party hats.

Those can be found at http://www.7-Eleven.com or www.slurpee.com/Rewards.

More details also are available on the company's Facebook.

Six Flags Discovery Kingdom is getting in on the action, as well, offering a special admission price of $7.11 to guests after 7:11 p.m. on 7-Eleven Day, when they present a receipt from a 7-Eleven purchase dated 7/11/12.

Guests will receive a VIP wristband to attend the “Exclusive 7-Eleven Coasters After Dark” event that evening.

For more information, go to www.slurpee.com and www.sixflags.com.
