Closed: Me and My Friend's Cafe

The popular Pleasanton deli is no longer in business

Me and My Friend's Cafe, which was located at 4713 First Street in Pleasanton, has closed.

Not much information available about the closure of the long-time Pleasanton mainstay. According to Facebook posts, the last day sandwich devotees could get their "famous daily special" was on Nov. 30.

One of the last posts on Dec. 13 on their Facebook page read:

"Woo Hoo! Now that the restaurant has closed, we've hit 400 fans! Stay tuned for great things to come! :)"

On Nov. 21 Vince Ortiz, the deli owner posted on Facebook:

"If you told me 6 years ago that I would be running one of America's greatest cafe or that I would run a half marathon I wouldn't have believed you. But that's exactly what I've done.

We've watched you get married. We've seen you have babies. We've watched your children graduate high school, go off to college, and serve in the military. We've brought food to your weddings, to your baby showers, to your children’s graduation and fed them when they came home.

Sometime in the month of December we will be closing our doors for good. We will no longer be here, but we hope to always be a part of your hearts, families, and memories forever, as you will be part of ours. Never before had I ever felt that I belonged to such a wonderful community. I love you Pleasanton.

Please do not use this time to feel sorry or saddened for us. However feel free to come in and stock up on gravy. Now hurry up and order your holiday prime ribs for Christmas. I gots to go.

God Bless America,
Chef/Owner Me and My Friends Cafe, Vince Ortiz and Teva the Wonder Dog.

PS. We need jobs. :)"

In the "about" section of their Facebook page, they say the cafe was born in 2006.
