Before I start this review, I want to let you know that because of some changes at Patch, today’s column will be my last. It has been truly a pleasure to share my foodie point of view with all of you and I thank all of my loyal readers for their support.
I love Italian food and am always looking for a good place to go with my vegetarian friends. We decided to go to in downtown Pleasanton on the first day of fall for a girls’ night out. We had a lovely meal with attentive, prompt, and caring service.
We decided to get a few entrees and appetizers to share. We got both vegetarian and meat-based dishes. For the appetizers, we had grilled eggplant and zucchini with a roasted pepper sauce, feta cheese and kalamata olives for $10.95.
The veggies were simply delicious with the right amount of seasoning and perfect grill marks.
Also the red pepper sauce was a great accompaniment that makes this more than just a side of veggies. For the meat eaters, we ordered prosciutto and seasonal fruit for $7.95. The Prosciutto Di Parma was salty and the pieces of melon were sweet, so it was the perfect combination.
When it came time to order entrees, we ordered the Chicken Lasagna, stuffed with chicken, red and yellow peppers, onions, carrots and spinach Baked with Fontina cheese, roasted walnuts and marinara sauce, this costs $14.95. This was simply delicious and a nice lighter option from the ground beef-based lasagnas.
We also had a pasta rustica, which included corkscrew pasta with capers, olives, and a spicy tomato-herb sauce for $16.95. For such a simple dish, I was blown away by the explosion for flavors and the saltiness of olives and capers were the perfect way to finish the dish.
Finally to celebrate fall, we had Pumpkin Ravioli for $17.95. It was so delicious and a great addition to a fall menu. The Marsala-mushroom and walnut sauce sauce it was tossed in was amazing.
Sadly, we were too full for dessert but the spumoni ice creem dish (in cake form) looked so good! All and all, I would love to go back. This restaurant is a great place for a classy dinner or casual lunch, and the portion sizes are plentiful, so you will go away full and happy. On the next visit, I will save room for dessert and some cocktails.
