Mr. Pickles Sandwich Shop not your ordinary sub!

The sandwiches are huge, the toppings are fresh, the service is friendly and best of all, the cookies are free.

You might be wondering why I am choosing to review a sandwich shop.

Well, is something special — the sandwiches are huge, the toppings are fresh, the service is friendly. And best of all, the cookies are free.

The menu is very expansive with 15 specialty sandwiches that are exclusive to the Mr. Pickles franchise, and there are endless customization options.

Some of my favorites are the Hang Loose ($7.75), which includes hot pastrami, bacon, cream cheese and avocado. Another favorite of mine is the Tom Turkey ($7.25), which is a cold sandwich made with turkey, bacon and Swiss cheese and of course your choice of toppings and bread.

If none of these sandwiches appeals to you, a custom option is available where you choose from a meat like chicken, turkey, ham and roast beef. Bread choices can be Dutch Crunch, sweet or sourdough rolls. Cheese can be Swiss, Pepper Jack or American.

Toppings include garlic sauce, mustard and the ever-famous pickles.

You can also add bacon, avocados, or extra cheese. Of course, these are just a sampling of what you can get — there is much more to be had at each franchise. If you are not a sandwich lover, there a plenty of salads. My friends’ favorites are the chef and the green salads.

As far as sides go, those are extra but these are not to be missed as they have every kind of chips under the sun. And the macaroni or potato salad ($1.99) are not to be missed. Best of all, the meals come with a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie.

On this run to Mr. Pickles, my friends and I planned to get our lunch to go because it was lunch time and super crowded. We planned to take our meals to the pool side and have a summertime girls' day out.

We had a fabulous lunch that included a Chef salad ($6.99), which was full of bacon, cheese, onion and various deli meats, all topped with a yummy homemade ranch dressing.

We also shared a chicken salad sandwich, which is full of white meat chicken, tomatoes, chives and we topped it with garlic sauce, pickles and peppers.

We also had an Italian Stallion ($7.25), which is a cold sandwich with salami, ham, pastrami, jack cheese and homemade Italian dressing.

Of course you can’t have a sandwich without some chips and some ice cold sodas.

I love Mr. Pickles for a lot of reasons — they serve a monster sandwich for a fair price, the customer service is always warm, the ingredients are always fresh and there's a wide variety of food options.

This is a great place in Pleasanton for a casual lunch that will leave you feeling full and happy. There are also Mr. Pickles locations in Dublin and .
