Sprouts & Shutters: Fat Cactus Closed, Justice and Brothers, Oak Tree Wealth Management

Here's the latest roundup of retail, restaurant and other business news and happenings in the Tri-Valley area.

The Fat Cactus in San Ramon closed down and will be reopening in the same location as the Maui Burger Company. The Mexican restaurant had been open since August of 2011.

Oaktree Wealth Management moved into San Ramon from Alamo and opened on Jan. 2, according to the owner, Diane Woodward.

Woodward wrote, via email:

"Oak Tree Wealth Management is an independent wealth management firm.  We work with families and individuals that have reached a level of success in their lives and want a financial planner to help them move to the next level.  Our clients mostly live in in the East Bay area from Lafayette, Walnut Creek, down through San Ramon and out to Pleasanton and Livermore.  We specialize in working with widows and divorcees.  We find that our services, especially for women in transition, help our clients have control and confidence in their financial lives."

In the Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton, the girls' clothing store, Justice, is remodeling. The sign posted on the outside of the barriers says the store will be reinventing itself as Justice and Brothers and will also sell clothes for boys. According to the manager, Susan Condon, the store is open during the remodel.

Pho fans will be happy to hear that Pho Tastic appears to be replacing the old Carl's Junior on Hopyard in Pleasanton. No date or time for the opening is known.

Cupid's Tooth candy store, located at 99 W Neal Street, closed in October, reopened under new ownership on Dec. 15, according to owner Deanne Long. Long says buying the candy store was not a planned purchase.

"We saw the opportunity and we took it," Long said. "We are in the same location." Follow Cupid's Tooth on Facebook.

In Livermore, a Salad Makers will open at the shopping center on Las Positas Road anchored by Target. Also on Las Positas Road, a Wheel Works is being built near the Kohl's department store. We will provide updates on opening dates when we receive them.

Opening Update: Schubros Brewery’s new taproom in San Ramon opened on Jan. 19.

Has anyone heard if there is or will be a meat market to replace "KELLY'S" in Livermore ?
Californicated1 January 28, 2013 at 07:55 pm
Just what we need, another place for hopeless single people to meet and hit on each other, spread STDs and perhaps cause unplanned pregnancies, increase the population, make it harder for the rest of us to find parking, affordable housing, deal with a rising crime rate as these little rugrats run rampant through the streets, worry about educating the rugrats that don't cause trouble, and find cheap groceries, all because somebody wanted another "meat market" in town.
Thanks a lot!

Susan Condon, awesome. Thanks for letting us know. I will update the story and if you would like to upload pics of the store as it progresses, that would be great.

@Californicated. Wow man, you picked a bad day to go off your meds. Kelly's was LITERALLY a meat market, not a figurative one. Think of them as a butcher shop you dolt. Now go get your shine box! http://www.yelp.com/biz/kellys-meat-markets-of-livermore-and-san-ramon-livermore
