Sprouts & Shutters: Martini Sky Opens, New Dueling Pianos and More

Here's the latest roundup of retail, restaurant and other business news in the Tri-Valley area.

Martini Sky, previewed in a , opened May 11 in the Danville Livery after completing an interior renovation and menu overhaul. Martini Sky, formerly Patrick David’s, now offers 80 artisanal martinis and lots of small plates served in a more casual atmosphere. (See the transformation in the accompanying photo.)

The shoe store Shuz, which specialized in European comfort and walking shoes, closed last month in the Danville Livery. It’s looking like all or most of the Bay Areas Shuz stores have closed: Attempts to reach other stores and the parent company led to disconnected lines and bounced e-mails.

Danville’s That Bar, the Tri-Valley’s only dueling piano bar, now has some competition: San Ramon’s ShBoom Nightclub recently added Dueling Pianos to its event schedule. On the second and fourth Thursday of each month, you can watch piano players “compete” at two face-to-face grand pianos as they perform classic rock anthems and today’s hits. Learn more here.

After five years in business, California Stools Bars and Dinettes it closing its furniture store on San Ramon Road in Dublin on May 14. The store manager said the store was closing because that location wasn’t generating enough traffic. California Stools Bars and Dinettes also has stores in Pleasant Hill, San Carlos and San Jose.

Pleasanton’s Resurrection Consignment Boutique will close at the end of May or early June in Pleasanton. Owner Michele Malone is reaching out to consigners to pick up their clothes and any owed money before the store closes. Clothes that aren’t picked up will be donated to Shepherd’s Gate. The store’s inventory, which includes clothing and jewelry, is all on sale for at least 50 percent off.

Opening Update: Massage Envy, covered in a , opened in Pleasanton’s Hopyard Village shopping center on May 7.

Livermore’s Her Secret Hair Extensions, which offers non-surgical hair replacement and extensions for women, is expanding to a larger 1,500 square-foot space on First Street in Livermore. The new space, set to open May 20, will include private rooms plus additional special-needs skin care services. Learn more about Her Secret at hersecrethairextensions.com.
