A Pleasanton mother has started up a local franchise of Origami Owl Custom Jewelry.
Tiffany Barnes began selling the personalized jewelry last week.
Barnes, a mother of two boys, holds interactive get-togethers called "Jewelry Bars" where customers design their own jewelry. She also does direct sales via her website.
Origami Owl was started in 2010 by 14-year-old Isabella Weems to earn money to buy herself a car for 16th birthday. Weems bought her car (a white Jeep) last year. She also ended up with a successful nationwide business.
Barnes already has a car. She's hoping to supplement her family's income and save up money for her sons' college education.
