Sprouts & Shutters: New Middle Eastern Eateries, BJ's Opening, Brunch Cocktails and More

De Afghanan Kabob House expanded to Livermore. The Middle Eastern restaurant, with locations in Fremont and Berkeley, opened last Thursday on Railroad Avenue near Grocery Outlet. Savory specialties include Borani Kadoo (sautéed pumpkin seasoned with fresh garlic and peppers) and De Afghanan’s Famous Chaplee Kabob (grilled ground sirloin mixed with scallions and special seasonings). Pleasanton also gets a new Middle Eastern restaurant: Lokanta restaurant is set to open next month in downtown Pleasanton, taking over the space recently vacated by .

Owner Dogan Ozdogan says his new restaurant will feature “California influenced Mediterranean and Turkish dishes” such as Mediterranean Mussels (steamed with creamy white wine lemon garlic fish broth and bay leaves) and Flaming Hellumi Cheese (with pear, roasted tomato and Champagne syrup). Fun bit of trivia: Ozdogan says Lokanta means bistro in Turkey, his home country.

Dublin’s 4Ever Dance Studio is expanding its studio, taking over the space next door in the small shopping center next to Tralee on Dublin Boulevard. The dance studio offers instruction in ballroom, Latin, salsa, swing, tango, hip hop, zumba, country and other dance styles. Learn more at 4everdancestudio.com.

Opening Update: The wait is over: BJ’s Brewhouse officially opens today, April 23, in the Fallon Gateway in Dublin.

On June 1 Schubros Brewery plans to take possession of its newly leased warehouse and office space on Alcosta Boulevard in San Ramon for its corporate headquarters, research and development and distribution center. Ian Schuster, the brewery’s president and a San Ramon resident, says they also hope to open a small brewery in the space for “very small batch production runs for an extremely select distribution and very limited product lines.” Schuster says news about Schubros Brewery opening and inaugural brewing for sale should be coming soon. Opening Update: San Ramon's new Clementine's restaurant opened April 17 on San Ramon Valley Boulevard and will celebrate its grand opening April 28. Read more about the New Orleans themed restaurant in .

Danville residents have a new place to get a burrito: Chipotle Mexican Grill opened its newest eatery March 28 in the Danville Square Shopping Center near Trader Joe’s. Read more in earlier Sprouts coverage.

Danville’s now offers brunch from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. each Sunday. The new menu includes breakfast specialties like Baked Fuji Apple Toast Casserole and Panko Fried Chicken and Waffle as well as a lunch salad and sandwich options.
