Toyota Commercial Filmed in Livermore to Air Near Thanksgiving

Local film commission recaps Thursday's filming in downtown Livermore.

Here's information provided by the Livermore Valley Film Commission:

Vreeland Productions literally rolled into downtown Livermore Thursday night to film a Toyota commercial set to air around Thanksgiving. The approximately 30 crew members worked with downtown merchants to present a festive holiday scene.

The "story" starts with you believing you are looking out a storefront window surrounded with gifts. Then, a large gift starts moving. Turns out it's on a Toyota Highlander on the street!

Downtown merchants were extremely cooperative, and even decorated their windows early so as to enhance the shot. Crew members rented local props, purchased supplies locally, and ate at downtown restaurants.

The sidewalks were full of residents excited to watch the production. Many said they saw on Patch and Facebook that the production was happening, so decided to come downtown to eat and watch the fun.

The rain held off until the crew wrapped at midnight, so earlier fears were calmed. In fact, the art department had to do a "wet down" - watering down the street to give the reflection they wanted.

Overall, it was a fun and positive experience. The film shoot brought people downtown and helped accomplish what the Livermore Valley Film Commission is here for — economic benefit.
