Downtown Pleasanton is Going Mobile with New App

New iPhone app will provide information about downtown businesses and events.

The Pleasanton Downtown Association is launching a new iPhone Application that will put downtown businesses and events at the fingertips of both residents and visitors.

The Downtown Pleasanton app is free and is available now for download from the Apple App Store on all iPhones. The association hopes to launch the Android version of the app in coming months.

Developed by 1776 Productions, the Downtown Pleasanton app, according to a press release, is a useful tool that combines a downtown business directory with Google maps, directions, event information and specials. The app is web-based, so content will be updated and refreshed each time the app is opened, keeping the app current and relevant for all users.

“The PDA is excited to give our visitors and residents a way to access directory and event information in seconds so that they can get to where they need to go fast,” Laura Olson, Executive Director for the Pleasanton Downtown Association, wrote in a press release.

“Many people are now using a mobile device to help them make decisions about where to go to dinner, where to pick up a new outfit or where to find a chiropractor or hair dresser. Our app gives convenient and instantaneous access to this information whether someone is at home, at work or on the go.”

The PDA will continue to add functionality and special features to the app over the coming months.

“We want our app to be the go-to app for everyone in Pleasanton,” Olson said.

She also said the PDA is open to suggestions as to how to further enhance the app.
