Easy Ways to Save Money on Gas

If you've been driving around Pleasanton in shock at the high gas prices, you're not alone.

The average price of a gallon of regular unleaded in California is now up to $3.90, a 50 cent hike in the last month.

 While Pleasanton's gas prices may not be as expensive as they are in Livermore -- at a high of $4.09 per gallon -- filling up the tank can still put a damper on your wallet.

So, how can you save some money on fuel?

According to AAA, in order to save a gallon of gas, you need to cut about 22 miles of driving from your week. But if that's not an option, here are 10 other easy ways to save, courtesy of AAA:

1. Use public transit - Commuting to San Francisco? There are now two BART stations: the Pleasanton—Dublin/Pleasanton stop and the new stop. 

2. Slow down - According to AAA, the faster you drive, the more gas you use.

5. Drive the small car - Take your smaller, more fuel-efficient car whenever you can.
