Local firefighters will be out on the streets this week and next in Livermore and Pleasanton raising money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
They'll be standing at local intersections, in partial uniform, collecting money from passersby for their cause.
Last year, the Livermore-Pleasanton International Association of Firefighters, Local 1974 raised over $11,400 to help children in the Tri-Valley area living with muscular dystrophy, according to a press release.
This year the association is hoping to do better.
The first event will be Tuesday, May 24 in Livemore. Firefighters will gather between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m in the parking lot of Chevy's and IHOP at First Street and Las Positas Road.
From there, they will talk to motorists driving in the area.
The second event is in Pleasanton on June 1. Firefighters will gather between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on that day at Santa Rita and Los Positas roads.
