Castlewood Locked Workers Hold Community Forum

Locked Out Castlewood Country Club employees held a community meeting today to discuss the situation.

Locked out workers from Castlewood Country Club  hosted a community forum today to discuss the stalled negotiations between  club management and the union, Unite Here! Local 2850. 

Local leaders including Alameda County Supervisor Scott Haggerty was part of a panel of speakers.

"I believe in my heart it's wrong to lock people out," said Haggerty. He said employers have a responsibility to stay at the negotiation tables and to keep people at work.

The panel also included local labor officials including Alameda Labor Council Executive Secretary Treasurer Sharon Cornu and union president Wei-Ling Huber.

The forum took place on the 61st day of the lockout and a day before management and union bargaining teams are supposed to meet again. There were no representatives from the country club management, though the union said they were invited.
