Get Out: Comedy Nights, Local Beer Tasting and More

Here's your roundup of Patch's picks for weekend fun in the Tri-Valley.

It’s Friday and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch to the rescue. We’ve selected five best bets for your done-work-outta-here time.

You don’t have to cross a bridge for your weekend entertainment. From the Bay Area Black Comedy Competition in Pleasanton to an afternoon of beer tasting in Danville, we’ve got you covered.

1. 
Where/When: Tommy T's Comedy Club at 7:30 and 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 7 and 9:30 p.m. Sunday.
Why Go: Spend your Valentine's Day weekend laughing as more than 60 comedians from all over the country compete in the 25th Annual Bay Area Black Comedy Competition and Festival. Click here for a contestant list.
Pricing: $30 - 40, plus two-item minimum purchase

Where/When: Whole Foods, San Ramon, Friday,  8:30 to 10:30 p.m.
Why Go: Free food! Enjoy Valentine-themed treats from vendors, listen to live music and sample wines. The event is family-friendly and open to the community.
Pricing: Main event is free. Wine tasting costs $10.

3.  
Where/When: Meet at Emil Villa's in Livermore on Saturday at 8 a.m.
Why Go:  What better way to enjoy this springlike weather than pedaling around the Tri-Valley with fellow cycling enthusiasts? Riders typically meet at Dublin Cyclery in Dublin each Saturday, but this time they're meeting for breakfast at at 8 a.m. before riding along Mines Road south of Livermore and out to Junction Cafe for lunch. Pricing: Free ride but riders pay for their own meals.

4.
Where/When: Start at Bothwell Art Center's Downtown Art Studio on Saturday and visit participating downtown locations from 1 to 4 p.m.
Why Go: See the diverse talents of local artists during the monthly "Art Crawl," when artists open their working spaces to the public. You'll see styles ranging from traditional to contemporary as you visit more than 15 galleries, open studios and tasting rooms. Click here for a list of participants.
Pricing: Free.

5.
Where/When: Pete's Brass Rail & Car Wash in Danville, Sunday, 1 to 5 p.m.
Why Go: Top off your weekend with an afternoon of beer tasting and live music outdoors in Pete's Beer Garden. Local breweries include Jack's Brewing, Lost Coast, Snowshoe, Anchor, Ale Industries, Grand Teton, Lagunitas, Schooner's, Anderson Valley, Black Diamond, Sierra Nevada and Marin/Moylan's.
Pricing: $15 gets you five tastings and a commemorative glass.

Out of Town Picks:

Need a change of scenery? Head to Jack London Square in Oakland on Saturday for "The Find," a free vintage fair featuring more than 50 antique and vintage collectors plus food, live music, massages and more. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Pavilion at Jack London Square (formerly Barnes & Noble).
