Some of the events that highlighted the past week in Pleasanton

Are you up-to-date on your Pleasanton news? Pleasanton Patch published a number of articles and columns last week. If you missed your daily reading, here are some highlights.

The Pleasanton Friday evening to restore $2.4 million in programs that were cut in Febuary from the 2011-2012 budget. The reinstated programs included physical education courses in elementary schools, a half-time reading specialist at each elementary school and counseling services. School officials said the programs can now be restored because of the improving state budget picture.

Thisspoiled a number of events that are usually blessed with sunshine in early June. The wet weather dampened farmers markets, campgrounds, community festivals and road races.

Pleasanton residents criticized at the Shadow Cliffs Regional Recreation Area. The slides have been a fixture at the park for 30 years, but the East Bay Regional Park District in May approved a land use agreement that would close the slides and replace them with other park amenities. Resident said the slides are a fun, wholesome way for kids to have fun in the summer.
