The Caledonian Club of San Francisco will be opening their 146th Scottish Games with a short ceremony on Main Street under the Pleasanton arch at 5 p.m. on Friday.
Several pipe bands will lead a march from the parking lot to the area in front of the . Several speeches by Scottish Games representatives and event dignitaries will follow and then the procession will return to the Domus lot to disband.
A portion of Main Street, St. Mary Street and Division Avenue will be closed as part of this event. The road closure will be from 4:30pm – 6:00pm.
Main Street will be closed between the north curb of Rose Ave./ Neal St. and the south curb of St. Mary St. and Division Ave. will be closed between Main St. and Peters Ave. Rose/Neal and St. Mary will remain open to vehicle traffic. West-bound Division St. traffic will be allowed to access Peters Ave.
The Scottish Highland Gathering and Games takes place this Saturday and Sunday at the Alameda County Fairgrounds.
The festival offers a taste of Scottish food like haggis, or people can watch Celtic bands and listen to bagpipes, or watch re-enactments, dancing or sporting events.
