Photo Gallery: Remembering Delacia

Friends and family members of Delacia Camacho-McDaniel gathered outside of Amador Valley High School to remember the 14 year old, who died in December.

Friends and family of Delacia Camacho-McDaniel said Friday it was her spirit and humor that they remember most about her. The Amador Valley High School freshman died in December from viral myocarditis, an inflammation of the heart due to a viral infection.

Participants gathered in front of the school to plant a tree and a memorial plaque, which read "In Loving Memory of Delacia Candelaria Camacho-McDaniel, Called to Eternal Life Freshman Year, December 21, 2009."

They read poems and messages to Delacia, who was 14 years old. Bill Coupe, the school's principal, was also present to say a few words.
