Today's Fair July 2: Kids Free Day and Fireworks

Hours: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Concert: Little Feat, (Rock), Amphitheater, 6:00 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Highlights: A fireworks display will start at 9:15 p.m.

Arts In Festival Square, there will be arts and craft, face painting and hanging mobile making, and caterpillar puppets.

Youth Jazz with Oaktown Jazz Youth Ensemble performs at 12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m., Festival Square.

PopLyfe, youth pop music, performs at 2:15 p.m., Festival Square

At 3 p.m., semi-finals judging for the 8th Annual BBQ cook-off will take place, Festival Square

There will be a leather mural honoring four slain Oakland police officers at the Alameda County Fair, Building C.

The 'Elvis Cycle' exhibit will showcase a replica of Elvis Presley's prized Harley Davidson motorcycle.

At the Race Tracks: First race is at 12:45 p.m.

Getting There:

  • General parking at the Fairgrounds, $8, Preferred Parking (Gate 8), $15
  • BART Shuttle available from  the Dublin/Pleasanton station
  • Catch a Wheels Route 10 bus, which has a drop-off at the intersection of Peters and Rose Avenue. Walk two blocks to the East Gate entrance of the Fairgrounds.
