Weekly Story Round-Up: Staples Ranch Discussion Delayed and Valley View In the Running for National Grant

Take a look at some of the stories you might have missed this week.

It was another busy news week for Pleasanton Patch. The City Council delayed its discussion on the Staples Ranch project, Valley View is in the running for a national grant and Foothill High School announced its new athletic director.

  • Changes are underway for the Wheels bus system as transit officials propose discontinuing or reducing services to underused bus routes. At the same time, officials are introducing its Rapid bus line, which will help offset some of the impacted routes.
  • The City Council postponed its consideration of environmental reports for the Staples Ranch project to August. The delay was due to the city failing to meet a 10-day public notification requirement for the meeting by one day. Seniors who are hoping to move into a retirement community that is part of Staples Ranch asked council members to move forward with the project.
  • Valley View Elementary School  is about 50 spots away from receiving a $50,000 grant from the Pepsi Refresh Project program. If the school is successful in getting the grant, it will use the money to buy language arts software.
  • Did you see our graduation coverage for Amador Valley, Foothill and Village high schools? But it wasn't just teens who graduated last week. Students at Amador Valley Adult and Community Education also celebrated completing their coursework.
