"Frindle" book review

Here is a book review of one of my favorite books: “Frindle” by Andrew Clements. “Frindle” is about a little boy named Nick Allen in fifth grade. He just started fifth grade and his new teacher is Mrs. Granger. He hears rumors about her being the most strict teacher in the whole school!

So, one day he uses one of his time-wasting-questions about dictionaries on Mrs. Granger (she loves dictionaries). Obviously it doesn’t work, and in return, he has to do a report on how words are created. After school, he walks home with his friend and she drops her pen. Instead of calling it a pen, he calls it a “frindle”, and says “here’s your ... frindle.”

The next day at school, Nick gets all of his friends to say “frindle”, and things get out of control, with people across the country saying it too! Mrs. Granger is against using the word “frindle”, but in the end Nick gets his way and figures out that Mrs. Granger was on his side the whole time.

I really like this book because I like action stories, and I like the part where he goes to the candy store and asks the lady for a “frindle.” Her reaction is funny!
