“Meet Haywood U. Huggme Bear at Octobear Affaire”

Good News Bears (GNB), a local non-profit organization, is inviting you to an un”bear”ably fun Fall event that you cannot afford to miss!

Join the group on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 & 16 from 11 am – 4 pm at Alden Lane Nursery in
Livermore for “Octobear Affaire.”

Part of Alden Lane’s Fall Festival, Octobear Affaire will feature drawings for wonderful gift baskets, bear related items for sale, and fun for kids. And, this year, the event will feature some beautiful handmade artist bears for sale
at fantastic prices.

Start thinking now about Christmas gifts! All money raised is used to purchase new teddy bears for gifting. We will also be collecting new and gently used stuffed animals to pass on to those in need.

Good News Bears’ mission is to distribute “stuffed
love” to those in need. The need increases every year, and this year, in honor of their 15th Anniversary, the group expects to gift over 15,000 stuffed animals to local hospitals, emergency vehicles, shelters, and more. More than 60 organizations are on the regular distribution list. In addition to filling the need in the Tri-Valley, the bears and other stuffed animals travel the world in their mission to ease pain and suffering. To date, more than 100,000
stuffed animals have gotten in the arms of children and seniors needing comfort.

Groups such as Operation SAM, Axis Health Care, Valley
Memorial Hospital, Livermore’s Veteran’s Hospital and Shepherd’s Gate are kept stocked with critters to give to children and adults needing a friend to hold because of illness, loss, loneliness, or trauma.

Good News Bears has a new mascot, and he’ll be
available for you to meet and have your photo taken with at Octobear Affaire. Haywood U. Huggme - Haywood for short – is at all the GNB events, and loves to share
his hugs! Do you have critters sitting on your shelves that need a good home? Good News Bears accepts donations of teddy bears and other animals that are nearly new and can be passed on to someone in need. Bring your critters to
Octobear Affaire, and we’ll find them a new home. Receive free drawing tickets when you bring donations. Please remember that we can only accept stuffed animals that are in good shape as we have limited resources to clean and
repair. All types of stuffed critters are accepted, from Beanie Baby size to 18”.

Can’t make it to Octobear Affaire? Contact the club for information on where to drop the critters. Collections are a great project for schools, scout troops, and businesses. Membears of GNB are more than happy to help you with
this wonderful service project.

Octobear Affaire is the main fundraiser for the Good
News Bears. Drawing tickets are $1 each, 6 for $5, or 25 for $20. There are artist collectible bears that will appeal to collectors of all ages, and will be available at great prices. Get your picture taken with Good News Bears’ mascot from 1 – 2:30 pm each day for a small fee.

Join membears at Alden Lane, and enjoy scarecrow decorating contests, children’s games, and a whole host of
fun, Fall related activities.
