Live Well With Healthy Habits Challenge

Challenge starts August 9 and continues through September 9.

The City of Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and The City of Pleasanton are sponsoring a month-long event which challenges residents to begin a healthier lifestyle.

Starting August 9 through September 9, participants are encouraged to walk 30 minutes a day.

staff, in sync with the challenge, have committed to drink more water, walk, cut back on caffeine, and eat more vegetables.

"We've been thrilled at the response," said Chamber Board Chair April Mitchell, Director of Marketing for the Alameda County Fair.

The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce staff can be seen walking daily for 20 minutes while the will be offering "Meatless Mondays" on their K-5 school lunch menus.

The effort, which seems to be gaining speed within the community has caught the attention of ClubSport Pleasanton and Tuff Girl Fitness — both have generously donated prizes for individual participants and companies to win throughout the 30 days.

Pleasanton is known as one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.

With the new Healthy Habits Challenge, the city hopes to earn its stamp of approval for being one of the healthiest places to live, work, and raise a family.

Participants can sign up anytime during the 30 days and encouraged to continue challenging themselves thereafter.

Hello, health and wellness enthusiasts. Inspiration and motivation are key to helping us change our behaviors toward some "better goal." And, according to Stanford and Cooper, one of 6 steps to take on that road is to "buddy up" for continued communication and motivation. Connect with Community of Wellness, now, and at the Oct 27 festival, Senior Center multi-purpose room, 10-2:30. We have, so far, one weekly newsletter in place for Pleasanton walking opportunities, info@WorldWalkToWellness.org See you on a walk?

@Chef Lisa Books-Williams - yes! I'd love to learn more. I saw "Forks over Knives" and it made a definite impact on how I view what I eat. I also enjoy 'green' foods, such as green smoothies replacing caffeine in the am. I know there's so much more to learn - does Pleasanton have and/or can you recommend a restaurant close by that serves delicious plant-based, nutrient dense and cholesterol lowering foods?

I am an old Kansas meat and potatoes guy, so I hv a lot to learn, myself. Let's connect re YOUR helping. I know of a very active Contra Costa restaurateur leading the way, and I have invited her participation, also.
