Annual Memorial Day Observance and Barbecue

The event will be held on May 27 at the Pleasanton Senior Center.

Information from the City of Pleasanton--

Pleasanton’s Annual Memorial Day observance will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013 at the Pleasanton Senior Center, located at 5353 Sunol Boulevard. The event, hosted by American Legion Post 237 in Pleasanton, will take place in the garden area on the south side of the senior center. Ample parking is available and complimentary coffee will be served to early arrivals.      

A preliminary musical interlude by the Pleasanton Community Band under the direction of Bob Williams gets underway at 10:30 a.m., and the program will begin at 11:00 a.m. The keynote speaker is Major General David Baldwin, the Commanding General of the California National Guard.     

Directly following the ceremony will be a free barbecue at the Veterans Memorial Building at 301 Main Street in downtown Pleasanton. Junior and senior high school students who won the Patriotic Essay contest will be recognized at the barbecue.
