Shepherd's Gate Needs Donations of Gifts for Teens, Turkeys

Donations can be made over the phone or dropped off at either of the shelter locations.

Shepherd's Gate, a non-profit shelter serving displaced women and children in the Tri-Valley, is badly in need of donations to help make the holiday season special for more than 200 families. Holiday wrapping paper, turkeys, food and gifts for teenagers are all still needed at Shepard's Gate before their annual holiday distribution this weekend.

"Our holiday distribution event will take place on both our campuses this weekend," Jen Harp said. "Brentwood's campus will be Saturday and Livermore's campus will be Sunday. At the event we will be serving a meal, wrapping the gifts for the families, giving them their food and letting them choose toys for their children. We still are in need of food, turkeys or gift cards for turkeys, and gifts for teens, both boys and girls. We also need wrapping paper."

Harp says that each family in need who signed up for help this Christmas will be getting two bags of food, a turkey and new toys. While families are picking up their holiday food items and gifts, they will be served a meal and can wrap the gifts while listening to Christmas music.

Want to help but are too busy to shop and stop by Shepard's Gate? According to Harp, people who are strapped for time but would like to donate money can call and make a donation over the phone.

"They can call Tiffany at 925-583-8109, or they can drop off donations at either one of the shelters Wednesday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.," Harp commented.
