Olympic hangover? Too much else to worry about with a toddler on the run!

Ok, so the Olympics is over, and even though I loved lounging around letting my family eat, sleep and poop where ever they wanted, the fun is definitely over! It’s been a busy week trying to get my angel out of nappies and into her big girl knickers and also fighting her constant urges to miss her three hour afternoon nap.  I am NOT ready for a full day of being the entertaining monkey my mummy role seems to be heading in.  Already I am ferrying her around to different play dates, classes and am constantly trying to figure out where a cool place with water play exists.

Thank heavens for the Tennis Park and Vista Community Park in Pleasanton.  Without these two playgrounds I fear I would have melted into a mirage of my former self.  Has it really been in the high 90’s all week?  I have yet to discover a pool that’s open in the morning so that I don’t need a protective suite to hide from the sun.   The Richard Livermore Pool is a perfect spot for none napping kidletts; only try not to go when someone’s had a stinky accident.  It’s extremely hard convincing a toddler that she has to sit on the side and wait patiently for 10 minutes while the poop scoop gets to work, especially when she was previously intent in blasting my head off with the water cannon!

The nap missing is a problem; I won’t sugar coat it.  It’s partially due to the mini grand piano her Granny bought her for her birthday, her discovering my stash of bickies and the continuous reenactment of Old McDonald had a farm; but it could be something to do with the fact that she knows I am up to something!

The past few months have hit us hard, but without my Husband losing his job I would have never been as motivated as I am to try and get back in my previous line of work.  As long as it is not interfering with my ability to be a stay at home that is!

So ever since I planned and hosted my kid’s 2nd birthday party I am going all out planning a new business venture.  A party business that will incorporate all my skills as a Mum, an event planner and utilize my creative flair for all things party!   So watch this space.    It’s all cake, music, sweeties and socializing in our home right now.  I am paying special attention to sourcing stay-at- home- mum-types to supply and help create the perfect party business for Pleasanton’s little darlings.  So we can all have a slice of the cake.

So far the research has yielded lots of positive responses; I even have the girl guides showing interest in creating a badge around my idea.  How fun!

Thanks to the probably now famous Amiel’s book launch at Towne Center Books last Thursday I actually got my first taste of the lovely ladies and Mums who hang in my new hood.   I feel like I am back home in the UK this month, the Olympics from London, the wine and girly chats on a balmy summer evening  and exciting new business ventures.  It’s not just the sun that’s shining this week Pleasanton!
