The City of Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and The City of Pleasanton are sponsoring a month-long event which challenges residents to begin a healthier lifestyle.
Starting August 9 through September 9, participants are encouraged to walk 30 minutes a day.
staff, in sync with the challenge, have committed to drink more water, walk, cut back on caffeine, and eat more vegetables.
"We've been thrilled at the response," said Chamber Board Chair April Mitchell, Director of Marketing for the Alameda County Fair.
The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce staff can be seen walking daily for 20 minutes while the will be offering "Meatless Mondays" on their K-5 school lunch menus.
The effort, which seems to be gaining speed within the community has caught the attention of ClubSport Pleasanton and Tuff Girl Fitness — both have generously donated prizes for individual participants and companies to win throughout the 30 days.
Pleasanton is known as one of the best places to live, work, and raise a family.
With the new Healthy Habits Challenge, the city hopes to earn its stamp of approval for being one of the healthiest places to live, work, and raise a family.
Participants can sign up anytime during the 30 days and encouraged to continue challenging themselves thereafter.
