More Than 60 Local Teens Made Blankets for Veterans

More than 85 blankets went to VA Hospital Nursing Care Facility in Livermore.

More than 60 high school teens from the Catholic Community of Pleasanton made more than 85 fleece blankets for local veterans over a two-day period.

The blankets went to the Livermore Veterans Affairs Medical Center nursing care facility, just in time for Veterans Day.

Each blanket was also accompanied by a handwritten note from one of the teens or parent helpers.

Most of the kids who participated in this service project are preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation through the faith formation program at the Catholic Community of Pleasanton. The kids made the blankets on Nov. 6 and then again on Nov. 10 — 65 alone were made on that second day.

"In talking with the recreation staff ... I learned that the veterans were very touched by the generosity of the teens and we were able to provide a blanket for every veteran currently living in the facility," said Nicole Browne, CCOP Youth Minister.
