BLOG: If Mary Hayashi Keeps Avoiding Questions and Being a No-Show, She Should Resign

She ran out on her constituents in Castro Valley, and she treated her constituents with disrespect in Pleasanton when she was a no show for an event she said she would attend.

I admire the students of Castro Valley High School for their studies and their work to become journalists. It is unfortunate that Mary Hayashi turned the tables on them.

The CVHS journalism students with a predetermined list of questions for Mary Hayashi regarding her shoplifting conviction. Instead of the students asking the questions, Hayashi asked the students questions.

After twenty minutes, the reverse interview was over. The CVHS journalism students returned to their high school without their pre-determined questions answered. I invite the students to ask those questions here in the comment column, or please post a blog with your questions on Patch.

I have spoken directly with Mary Hayashi's District Director, Christopher Parman, regarding Mary Hayashi's absence from her scheduled public appearances. Parman denies that Mary or her district staff has stated that Mary would attend the senior scam seminar in Pleasanton.

The invitation I received to attend the event stated "Please join Assemblymember Mary Hayashi" at the senior scam seminar in Pleasanton February 6, 2012.

On Jan. 15, the district  office confirmed that Hayashi would be attending both senior scam seminars in Pleasanton and Castro Valley. Two days after her no-show at the Pleasanton seminar, I sent an email to Parman and asked that he provide her calendar. He has not responded to that request.

As a constituent, I want to know what committee hearings she is attending and when. If there is an issue before the Assembly that requires a vote, I want to know what her vote will be. If she is going to be appearing in public, I want to know when and where.

long enough to introduce the speakers for the event, then she was gone — disappeared again. Parman said she had to get back to Sacramento.

There was no assembly activity scheduled for that week and there were no committee meetings. There was no constituent business reason for her to go back to Sacramento.

She ran out on her constituents in Castro Valley, and she treated her constituents with disrespect in Pleasanton when she was a no-show.

Obviously, Hayashi is avoiding the constituents that put her in office and her remaining time in office is embarrassing for the people who put her there and pay her salary. She avoids the journalists that seek her out in her office and when she appears in public.

She should hold a news conference regarding her shoplifting conviction and her brain tumor or other illness to bring the issues directly to her constituents.

Or, she should resign. Mary Hayashi is a disgrace to the community. In the private sector, any professional business organization on this planet would have terminated her employment.

Even former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi asked for and got Representative Anthony Weiner's resignation for his bad behavior. And the Contra Costa Times has called for Hayashi's resignation.
