California Highway Patrol Setup With Random Smog Check Station

If you did not want your car checked, you were free to continue on your way.

About 10:00 a.m. this morning the California Highway Patrol set up a random smog check station on West Las Positas Boulevard near the DMV building. The check station was between Dorman and Payne in the west bound lane.

The officer said the voluntary smog checkpoint is a data collection project for the Bureau of Automotive Repair.

If you did not want your car checked, you were free to continue on your way. No tickets were being issued according to the officers.

The CHP officer said they are interested in collection of data on all models manufactured between 1976 and 2006.
