Big Crowd Enjoys New Leaf Community Market's 1-Year Celebration

The pleasant weather, outdoor BBQ, and free food and wine tastings and more brought hundreds of neighbors to the Pleasanton New Leaf Community Market on Saturday to help New Leaf celebrate its 1-year anniversary.

Outside under a sunny sky, the popular Max Cruise Band was rockin.
$5 BBQ plates benefited the Valley Humane Society who had an adorable adoptable dog, Riley with them. Dan Taylor of Tri Valley Trainer and Dr. Brian E. Thomason were on hand giving out information to promote health and well-being. Kids enjoyed face painting and balloons.

Inside the store, over 20 different food and products vendors offered free samples.

“What a blessing for our community that New Leaf opened,” said holistic chef Suzanne Aziz, who had been waiting for a healthy, organic market in Pleasanton for a long time.  “They carry seasonal organic and local produce. The staff is very friendly and super helpful. I love shopping there while I enjoy a fresh organic veggie juice from the juice bar,” she said.

Pleasanton Councilwoman Cheryl Cook-Kallio is also enthusiastic: “I am delighted to see this community-minded, neighborhood market operating in Pleasanton. New Leaf Community Markets has an emphasis on organics and sustainability. It is an excellent fit for the center and the nearby neighborhoods.”

New Leaf Donations to the Community Exceed $16,000:  “True to one of its founding principles to give back to the community, New Leaf donated over $16,000 to local groups since opening last year,” said Pleasanton New Leaf store manager, Steven Connelly.

New Leaf Community Markets, located at 3550 Bernal Ave in the Vintage Hills Shopping Center in Pleasanton, is open daily from 8 am to 9 pm. For more information about New Leaf, visit www.newleaf.com or connect at: www.facebook.com/NewLeafPleasanton.
