Healthy Munchies for the Superbowl, Support for Pleasanton Schools

TAKE THE POLL: Will you eat healthy snacks on Superbowl Sunday?

As game day approaches, here are a few ideas for snacks to enjoy that should whet your appetite while keeping your belt on the same notch:

  1. Veggie Tray with Hummus – Of course the easy route is to stop by Costco in Livermore and get a ready-made tray with the ranch dressing built into the tray. But if you’re feeling a little more adventurous, go to the new and pick up hummus spears (in produce near the cut carrot/celery combo), sweet potato spears (on the other side in a big bag), cut broccoli and cauliflower tops, and, finally, cherry tomatoes for a crunchy, colorful twist on the traditional veggie assortment.  Bring a couple of varieties of hummus (near the deli counter) for dipping.
  2. Guiltless D-Eggs - A much lower-fat and heart-healthy version of a finger-food staple using a special hummus from can be found here.
  3. Hi-Pro/Low Fat Bean Dip This delicious, nutritious concoction will be half gone before the first quarter, I guarantee. Click here for recipe.

As most locals know, and especially parents of school age kids, the has sustained heavy casualties due to budget cutbacks set down from Sacramento. Class size increases and program and staff reductions and eliminations are the worst many residents have ever seen. But this community is known for taking care of its own, and for resourceful problem solving.

To that end, my fitness studio, Tri Valley Trainer, will be accepting checks for new members interested in participating in the new group exercise class program, Club TVT, made out directly to for one-month memberships throughout February.

Please contact me at TriValleyTrainer.com for more information or to participate.

Thanks for helping us to be a part of this important effort.

Want to talk in-person? I’m usually at the studio http://trivalleytrainer.com/ and can always be reached at Dan@TriValleyTrainer.com .
