Local Wellness Experts You Should Know (pt. 3)

Profiling the Tri Valley’s best in preventive health care

(This is the third in a three-part series introducing some of the area’s finest integrative health professionals)

Ruth Shelton-Pryor, M.D.

I met Dr. Pryor three years ago when she was looking for the right practitioners with whom to collaborate on an exciting project. After more than 25 years practicing medicine in a traditional setting focusing on interventional treatment, she was interested in putting together a multidisciplinary team that would provide an innovative solution to healthcare. Optimum Wellness is the realization of her vision. Leading a four phase process that comprehensively evaluates each client’s general health, fitness condition, nutritional practices and attitudes and motivational cues regarding health habits, Dr. Pryor offers a uniquely valuable wellness experience. Her goal is for clients to have not just the complete information about their health profile, but to provide an actionable roadmap to get to their ideal state of wellness. The center is located in Concord but serves the entire East Bay and surrounding San Francisco Bay Area.

Jill Daniels, R.D. and Christine Dickson, Ph.D.

These two extraordinary local health practitioners were profiled in detail in this article.

Melissa Dickey, NASM-CPT and Denny Posson, ACE-Certified Personal Trainer

Denny is an outstanding trainer who attended several of my workshops when I was a faculty member for ACE and NASM. She is experienced with a broad range of fitness profiles and is equally skilled leading small group classes at Tri Valley Trainer, conditioning boot camps at local parks and in-home private training. Her specialty is women’s health and she can be reached at Denfit@att.net.

Melissa is currently the most popular instructor for the small group training program at Tri Valley Trainer. She helps develop programs and policies drawing on her previous experience in health club management at a large, successful health club in Chico. Melissa‘s training style has been influenced by various formats including Crossfit, boxing and other popular high-intensity formats like Tabata and multi-format circuit training. She also provides private training at the studio and in client’s homes. Contact her at Melissa@TriValleyTrainer.com

Come meet and find out more about these dedicated healthcare professionals at this great event at the Pleasanton Public Library on January 5.

Dan is a nationally certified personal fitness trainer and former continuing education faculty member of the National Academy of Sports Medicine and the American Council on Exercise. He is the owner and head trainer at Tri Valley Trainer in Pleasanton, which provides personal training, small group fitness and nutrition guidance. He can be reached at Dan@TriValleyTrainer.com
