Video: Tomato Battle Leaves Thousands Sauced

More than 3,000 people used around 50,000 pounds of tomatoes as ammunition for Pleasanton's second annual Tomato Battle held at the Alameda County Fairgrounds Saturday afternoon.

It was the fruit fight of the year at the Alameda County Fairgrounds on Saturday as thousands chucked and ducked from flying tomatoes.

Nearly 3,300 participants pelted 50,000 pounds of the putrid fruit at the second annual Tomato Battle in Pleasanton — one of eight U.S. cities to host the event.

After almost an hour of the onslaught, opponents were shown no mercy and surrendered in the midst of the ketchup carnage. Tomato seeds, skins and juice covered every inch of the battle field and its red-stained soldiers.

If you missed the Tomato Battle, catch the action without the cleanup by watching the video above.
