12-Year-Old Bicyclist Struck by Car

The girl was taken to Children's Hospital Oakland with minor injuries, according to police officials

A 12-year-old girl was riding her bicycle when she was struck by a car this morning around 7 a.m., Pleasanton Police Sergeant Robert Leong said.

According to Leong, the girl was riding her bicycle southbound on Pleasanton Avenue, as was the driver of the car involved in the collision, when she was hit. LeongΒ says the bicyclist turned left to ride toward W. Angela and was struck by the car.

"The parents were called and the father came to the collision," Leong said. "The girl was wearing her helmet and sustained some scrapes, road rash and had back pain. She was taken to Children's Hospital as a precaution."

Leong says the collision is still under investigation.
