7:40 p.m. update — The Pleasanton Police Department provided the following press release on what is being called a death investigation:
On February 26, 2012 at 11:45 a.m., Pleasanton Police responded to the Pleasanton Transfer Station, located at 3110 Busch Road, after an employee reported a deceased male adult found at the garbage site.
Responding officers discovered a body amongst cardboard recyclables. They secured the scene pending arrival of Pleasanton Police detectives. Per our request, The Alameda County Crime Lab responded to assist with evidence processing. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The cause of death has yet to be determined. The preliminary investigation indicates his death may have been accidental. A follow-up press release will be forthcoming once additional information is available.

A man's body was discovered at the Pleasanton Transfer Station around noon on Tuesday, according to police sources.
It's suspected that the man was a homeless person who may have already been dead when he was picked up by a garbage truck in Dublin.
The Pleasanton Police Department has not yet issued an official press release.
As of 5:45 p.m. all was quiet at the facility. Workers at a neighboring business said they hadn't noticed anything unusual going on there today. Calls to the garbage company's business line weren't answered.
